Our most frequently asked towing questions:

Most people we run into have many questions regarding towing their vehicle. We understand. Omaha Towing employs the best operators who will be able to answer any question you might have. However, if you have a few minutes before we show up, start here to find your answer.

Q: What should I do if I'm in an accident?
A: First, call 911. They'll be able to walk you through the following steps and start getting resources sent your way. Then, make an assessment. Are you hurt? Where are you? Those simple questions can be difficult to answer during a stressful time. If you can, make sure your accident didn't occur in a place where you could get hit again. If the vehicle is operable, drive it over to the shoulder. If it's inoperable, stay in your car until help arrives. Are you hurt? Inform the crew of the ambulance that shows up. If they recommend you go to the hospital, you should go with them and leave your vehicle with the crew on the scene. This happens frequently. Don't worry about your car. There's a system in place for situations like this.

If you are uninjured in the accident and you aren't at risk of getting into another accident, take time to document what happened. Call your insurance company and have them walk you through what they would like now, and what information they want you to get for later. Pictures are great and the insurance company might ask for them.

- Try and exchange insurance information with the other party involved. Be careful. Emotions run high after an accident. If the other party looks angry, wait until a police officer shows up. They will get all the information necessary and put it into a report you will have access to. Lastly, if you have someone who can come get you, give them a call. Friends could take quite a bit longer than emergency services to get to you.

Accidents are scary. Every action after an accident should be based on safety. Is it safe to get out of the car? Wait for help if you're unsure. After the adrenaline wears off and the fear goes away, frustration sets in. Let us help you with the rest of the process by making it as seamless as possible.

Q: If you tow my car, where does it go?
A: This depends on the situation. After an accident, we will take your car to a tow yard. Which one depends on availability, but it will all be registered with the police department. If you have to be evaluated at the hospital for injuries and you forgot where your car was going, you can always call the police department's non-emergency number. Otherwise, we will be towing your vehicle to wherever you tell us to.

Q: Why should I let Omaha Towing take my vehicle to a tow yard?
A: We can take your vehicle to your home after an accident. We advise against it for a few reasons. Your insurance will cover the tow after an accident. Paperwork from the insurance company will move quicker when towing follows a standard procedure. Getting money from your insurance company can be a hassle. Let us try and help to make that go faster.
